Spicy Beef Wontons

This is a Sichuan style spicy beef wonton, it is a very addicting dish if you love spicy food.

Spicy Beef Wontons – Ingredients

  • 30 wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup of ground beef
  • 1 cup of chopped scallions
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ cup chicken stock. 
  • ½ tbsp Sichuan peppercorn
  • ½ tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ sesame oil

Spicy Sauce For Wontons 

  • 1 tbsp of chili oil
  • 1 tbsp of chopped cilantro
  • ½ tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp black vinegar
  • ½ tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 chop scallions
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • Salt and white pepper to taste

Spicy Wontons – Cooking Instructions

  1. Boil chicken stock with the Sichuan peppercorn and let it set for 10 minutes then remove the Sichuan peppercorns.
  2. In a large bowl, put in the ground beef, add ginger, white parts of the scallion, five spice powder, salt, sugar, light soy sauce, and sesame oil and mix, keep mixing then add ⅓ of stock in, continue to mix till the beef absorbs the stock, then add another ⅓ and repeat till all the broth is absorbed, the beef will be sticky and fluffy by the time it is done. 
  3. Wrap the beef with the beef with wonton wrappers. 
  4. Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add wontons and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to float. Then transfer out. 
  5. In a bowl, put in the spicy sauce for the wontons and add a bit of water used to boil the wontons in the bowl then serve.
